Sprole was my pastor and my friend in Princeton, KY. He was a good man, a kind man. Sprole smiled a lot and loved his family, his Church, and his God. While I am saddened at his passing I am grateful for the short time I knew him, and give thanks for our short time together. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.

Dear Mary Alicia and Jonathan:

We were very sorry to hear about Sprole's passing. Not only was he our pastor here in Princeton, but he was also a good friend. We especially remember how fond he was of any kind of electronic gadget! He was particularly special to us as he was the one who performed our marriage ceremony 28 years ago at Central Presbyterian in Princeton.

We are glad we got the chance to visit with him in Durham before we left North Carolina to return to Kentucky. We know he missed your mom terribly over the years, and hope we can all derive comfort that they are both now with God.

With warm regards,
Margaret & Darrell Gammon

Mary Alicia and Jonathan ..

Please accept the condolences of the Session of First Presbyterian Church, Johnson City, in the passing of your father. I remember your dad as a very kind and compassionate man who very much loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I also have a remembrance of a more personal nature .. the Sunday my wife joined First Church. Dr. Ferguson Wood, our Senior Pastor, had died rather unexpectedly while Sprole was serving as our associate pastor. My wife appeared before the Session prior to the worship service to state her profession of faith and be received into membership. Sprole was serving as Moderator of the Session. After she made her statement your dad said she would be coming by "transfer of letter" .. which she wasn't doing as she was actually leaving the Catholic church and the Catholic church doesn't "transfer" anyone to a protestant denomination. Well, when my wife corrected Sprole and explained the reason your dad broke out in a cold sweat. My wife was scared to death he was going to pass out. Your dad regained his composure and things went smoothly from that point forward.

Your dad is now surely a 'Witness to the Resurrection'. I urge you to allow the love Sprole had for each of you to fill the void in your lives created by his passing.

Serving the Risen Savior,
Ed Campbell
