Shirley Jane Roughsedge Edwards, 84, died at the home of her daughter in Fearrington Village on February 20, 2010.
A native of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Mrs. Edwards was born September 19, 1925 to Charles Daniel Roughsedge and Bertha Richards Mueller Roughsedge. A lifelong Presbyterian, Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Morris Edwards. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother and was an area resident for the past four years.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her daughter and soh-in-law, Joanne and John Kochis of Pittsboro; grandchildren, George, Lisa and Christi; and great-grandchildren John and Alex. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by a sister, Marion Wilchek.
The memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Edwards' life will be conducted by Pastor Arvyette Patterson at 11:00 am Saturday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Griffin Chapel, in Pittsboro with a reception to follow at the funeral home.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care that was shown to Mrs. Edwards and her family during Shirley's illness.
