Charles Winfred �Bum� Tripp, 77, of Highway 15-501 North, Pittsboro, died February 27, 2010 at his home.
A Chatham County native, Mr. Tripp was born March 12, 1932 to Garland J. Tripp and Lillie Dixon Tripp. He was retired from the housing maintenance department of UNC @ CH after 28 years of service. Mr. Tripp was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Richardson Tripp; daughters, Shelby Harris and her husband Bob, and Kristie Foushee and her husband Jeffrey, all of Pittsboro; two grandchildren, Jason Harris and his wife Crystal, and Addyson Foushee; and also by a sister, Nancy Gordon of Siler City.
The funeral service for Mr. Tripp will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 1, 2010, at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Faust and Pastor Jackie Green presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the church fellowship hall following the service, and at other times at the Tripp residence.
Pallbearers will be Cadle Cooper, JW Hill, Rodney Durham, Preston Durham, Jeff Wheeler and Kevin Donneghan. Honorary pallbearers will be Bernie Williams and Billy York.
